The Centre of Excellence in Severe Asthma values the important role of people with asthma in research.
Consumer Reference Group
Consumer involvement adds value to health and medical research. As research is used to inform health care decisions it is essential that consumers are integrated within the co-design of that research. This includes the design, conduct and communication of findings.
At the Centre of Excellence in Severe Asthma, consumers are actively encouraged to collaborate with the research team, in addition to participating in research. This promotes research that is relevant to consumer and community needs, promotes engagement with consumers and the scientific community, and improves the translation of research findings.
In 2019, the Centre of Excellence in Severe Asthma established a consumer reference group. The aim of this group is to provide community advocacy, input, participation and feedback in study design and conduct, to ensure that the research that is conducted meets the needs of those affected by severe asthma.
