Home Tools & Resources For Healthcare Professionals

The Centre of Excellence in Severe Asthma will conduct research studies and communicate new findings. We will provide a platform for updated treatment guidelines, practical tools and checklists and recommendations to healthcare professionals involved in severe asthma management.

Severe Asthma Toolkit

There are currently limited dedicated resources to inform the management of severe asthma. We have developed the Severe Asthma Toolkit to address this unmet need.

The Severe Asthma Toolkit is an evidence-based website that has been developed by clinicians for clinicians. It provides educational content on topics relevant to severe asthma and practical resources and tools to guide optimal asthma management by health care professionals.

Additional Resources

We published a 2-part series on How to Treat Severe Asthma, in The Australian Doctor in September 2016, authored by Steven Maltby, Peter Gibson, Joerg Mattes and Vanessa McDonald.

Access to these articles is free for Australian Registered Practitioners. The series includes 1) an overview of severe asthma, including aetiology, epidemiology and pathophysiology, detailed recommendations on 2) diagnosis, 3) management and a 4) future perspective. Each article also includes representative case studies and quizzes.

These articles can be accessed at:
