May 25, 2016Severe AsthmaNews

The Centre of Excellence in Severe Asthma is pleased to introduce a new post-doctoral trainee. One of our key focuses is supporting the development of early career researchers. Trainees will receive salary support from our Centre, as well as mentoring and training opportunities. We are excited to see the outcomes of their research.

Vanessa Clark Profile

Dr. Vanessa Clark will be focusing on translational asthma research at the Hunter Medical Research Institute, in Newcastle. In 2015 she was awarded a PhD at the University of Newcastle for her thesis titled: “Cigarette smoking and psychosis: An examination of subjective motivations and cognitive factors associated with smoking.”

Vanessa has a background in psychology (Ba. Psychology, Hons I), and her research interests are chronic illness, health behaviours and mental health. In addition to her PhD, Vanessa has worked on various research projects including the NHMRC funded RCT the “Healthy Lifestyles Project” which aimed to reduce cardiovascular risk factors among people with psychosis, and has been a senior research assistant at the Centre for Translational Neuroscience and Mental Health research since 2008.
